Hidden Structures

This blog is called "hidden structures" because its aim (my aim in most broad/ultimate/ambitious strokes?) is to discover Hidden Structures Of The World. This framing leaves much to be desired, at least including the following:

  • The plural form "structures" suggests that they are many, as opposed to one or zero, although I currently strongly lean towards thinking that thinking of them as countable is inappropriate.
  • The very word "structure" suggests something static, already out there to be discovered whereas I currently strongly lean towards viewing it in terms of live potentiality for co-construction but that kind of kicks the can down the road because it pushes the potentiality to be out there to be discovered.
  • The very word "hidden" suggests that its default state is/was being available/not-hidden and that something/somebody/someX hid it, i.e. hid the structure(s). But it's not the case, as explained in the previous bullet point.

But one needs to live with inadequacies and "Hidden Structures" broadly directs my mind where I would want it to be directed by the name of my blog.

(An alternative name might be "ontological vulnerability" (h/t Sahil) but its 2.75 times more syllables and slightly more of a mouthful even if you adjust for the number of syllables.)1

As of 2025, I am not making any commitment whatsoever to the stability of the content of this posts or even their urls. This will probably change within a year or so. Among other things, I intend to organize this dump of posts into sensible categories.

These represents the state of my thinking from April 2024, so some parts might be somewhat out-dated.
